Brandelli's Brig
  Brandelli's Brig
16x22', latex orig. Oct. 1973, restored w/acrylic 1990, Venice CA.

This mural was part of a countywide mural project sponsored by Los Angeles County in 1973.

The mural depicts the owners of the bar, Babe and Betty Brandelli, posing outside their establishment in Venice, CA.

Babe was a well known Golden Gloves boxer in Venice in the '30s, and his watering hole was a local hangout.

In the mural, the mural itself is being painted on the wall behind Babe's head, while Art can be seen standing on a ladder working on the mural-within-a-mural.

This mural was completely restored in 1990.
