This closeup of the street end of the mural shows three images: 2 (left and right) of children playing in the surf are contemporary; the center image in the circle is painted from a photograph taken in 1900 showing a group of Santa Monica young ladies playing in the surf. A portion of a large panorama of the beach landscape in Santa Monica can be seen behind these three images.
