To the right of Mr. Kerckhoff's portrait, the rectangular image shows a lumber company in nearby Pomona in 1883 owned by Mr. Kerckhoff. The ship in the circle was used by this company to haul lumber from Northern California and Oregon and was the first oil-powered freighter in the U.S.
