A History of Long Beach

This very long mural is on the side of a freeway offramp, facing a park in downtown Long Beach. It depicts key places, people and events from Long Beach's history, from the days of the first Native Americans, through the Spanish Ranchos, to the mid-twentieth century.
Portraits of early owners of the land grant Ranchos are mixed with scenes of Long Beach's early development as a resort, its development as a major port and U.S. Naval base, and scenes from people's daily lives.
